I find it ridiculous that on every counter top in every food service establishment you will find a tip jar. There has to be a reason for the tip jar boom. I would be embarrassed as an owner of these places to have a tip jar. It is basically saying that you are a cheapskate and are not paying your workers enough and as a result they need to put a jar, bucket, carafe, or whatever decorative money holder on the counter.
I have no problem tipping people that live on tips, i.e. bartenders, cab drivers, waiters, delivery guys, massage therapists, ballgame ushers, and so on. You're telling me that when I walk into Starbucks and they hand me a large coffee (I refuse to say venti) without even making it the way I want it, they want me to tip them. If they actually put the milk in and stirred it they still would not get a tip. For all you tip junkies out there, it's called doing your job.

Ballgame Observances
Why do people continue to bring baseball gloves to games when their seats are in the upper deck or if they are an adult?
Adults: the Mets don't have your cell piece number and will not be calling on you in relief. Going to a bar after the game with your baseball glove under your sweaty pit is just asking for trouble. However, if you keep your glove on the whole night and drink from the glove hand all night that is pretty cool.
Kids: daddy lied to you about where the seats are. "Upper" and "reserved" do not mean totally awesome.
